Parents and campers asked, SciTech responded! These Summer Adventure Camps designed for campers who will be entering grades 4-5 in the fall.

Week of June 19 – 23

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00

Extreme Weather

Have you ever marveled  at lightning or watched the rain?  Come to our extreme weather camp to experience different types of weather and recreate your own storms in our weather lab.  Discover and discuss the water cycle and how it contributes to various forms of precipitation.

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 4:00

CSI

Team up with other campers to learn the skills needed to solve a crime. Spend the week analyzing  clues, examining  evidence and drawing conclusions. Learn how to lift fingerprints, determine  synthetic blood types and so much more. This camp will include a tour of the Aurora Police Department’s Mobile Command Center.

Week of June 26 – 30

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00

Take Flight!

Do you love flying or dream of being a pilot someday?  Investigate how these complex machines work, design your own wings and airfoils.  This camp features experiments that will help you understand the physics of flight! You will build rockets, parachutes, gliders and other designs to test in the vertical wind tunnel.

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 4:00

Camper vs Wild

Have you ever wondered how people can survive in scorching deserts, frozen tundras, or even in the middle of the ocean?  You’ll navigate with a compass, construct your own shelter, build a fire, and even collect water and preserve food.  Discover how people can harness nature and simple tools to survive anywhere!

Week of July 10 – 14

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00

Construction Camp

This incredible camp will teach you all about the amazing world of carpentry and woodworking.  We’ll discover how to measure, cut, and assemble incredible works of engineering art.  During this camp, you’ll explore the fascinating world of carpentry, and learn all about the math and science that let us build amazing structures.

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 4:00

Circus Arts

Come one, come all, to the greatest camp on earth!  We’ll discover the science behind incredible acrobatic feats, practice juggling skills and investigate the physics of balancing on a tightrope.  This camp is sure to be an exciting look into the science behind circus arts!

Week of July 17 – 21

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00

Saving the World with STEAM

How do solar panels collect electricity?  How can people grow food in cities?  How do landfills work, and what are other ways that we can get rid of trash?  You’ll tackle these complex problems and more as you work as a group to solve real problems with STEAM solutions!  Design your own urban gardens, investigate composting, and plan out a solar electric grid as part of this challenging camp!

Chemistry Creations

Matter and solids and solutions, oh my!  Enter the world of chemistry in this exciting camp!  You’ll investigate and create your own polymers, observe chemical and physical reactions, and discover how to make your own dyes.  We hope you’re ready to take chances and get messy as we have fun with chemistry.
