Spectacular Sports

Explore the science of incredible athletes!  Discover the physics that make amazing sports feats possible.  Learn to harness the power of spirals when throwing a football, and throw faster pitches using science!  This camp will show you how science is  used to make us better at sports!

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 4:00

Natural Flight

How do  animals use their bodies to soar through the sky?  We’ll investigate how birds wings soar through the clouds, how squirrels glide among trees, and some fish who  sail  above water.  We’ll also explore how these animals inspired people to build gliders, planes, and helicopters!

Week of June 26 – 30

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00

Astounding Astronomy

We’ll be traveling out of the solar system and zooming for the stars as we explore the exciting science of astronomy!  We’ll study constellations and the stories that people have told about them in our STARLAB Planetarium.  You’ll discover just how enormous our universe is as we investigate stars and planets outside of our solar system.

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 4:00

Rolling Rovers

How can people experience Mars without ever being there?  Discover how engineers create incredible machines that can be controlled from millions of miles away.  Examine  the other planets of our solar system in our STARLAB Planetarium.  Design, create, and test your own rover in a camp that’s out of this world!

Week of July 10 – 14

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00

SciTech Cooks

Have you ever wondered how pizza cheese gets so melty, or wanted to create beautiful works of culinary art like TV chefs?  Come to this camp and experience the science and art of cooking!  Investigate why squishy cookie dough turns into crispy, browned cookies.  Learn how to plate food like a pro, and create your own science-art masterpieces!

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 4:00

Lights Out

Look past shadows to discover the incredible science hiding in light!  Investigate how fiber optics help us see and communicate.  Use light and shadows to create beautiful and complex works of art.  You’ll also print your own shadow puppets on our 3D Printer and put on a show!

Week of July 17 – 21

Morning Session 9:00 – 12:00

Maze Master

Challenge yourself this summer to learn how to master the problem solving and mathematics skills required to solve different types of puzzles and mazes. Become a puzzle master and use your creativity to create and design your own challenging puzzles for your friends and family to solve.  Develop and design your own incredible mazes as you twist and turn through this a-MAZE-ing camp!

Afternoon Session 1:00 – 4:00

Mechanical Marvels

Discover how engineers solve complicated problems using simple machines!  We’ll investigate the mechanical engineering of these amazing simple machines.  Use levers, pulleys, and wheels to accomplish incredible feats and design your own simple machines.  Discover how these simple solutions help us to make jobs easier and increase our own power!
