SciTech History

SciTech was founded in 1987 by Dr. Ernest Malamud, a physicist at Fermilab and his associates who comprise some of the world’s most eminent and accomplished scientists. SciTech was founded on the belief that each generation of scientists has a duty to inspire their successors to continue the progress as well as to and inspire children in science. Today, SciTech reaches over 75,000 youth a year, offering a wide variety of educational programming and more than 200 hands-on exhibits.

A New Vision:

Come see the many new changes and exciting updates at the SciTech museum!
  • The SciTech Discovery Preschool is NOW open!!  Limited to only 36 children between the ages of 3 and 5, this preschool will be one of the only S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) curriculum based preschools in the country!
  • The SciTech Store has a wonderful new look and lots of new and exciting things you will love such as dry ice cream, real shark teeth necklaces, science kits, rocket launchers and so much more!
  • The SciTech Café is open to the public as well as museum goers!  Enjoy a fresh brew, ice latte and a variety of breakfast and lunch items and a seated area complete with free wireless access. Plus, The café now exclusively offers the famous JenyLee CupCakes and Sally Jean hand-made chocolates. Buy just one for your visit or come in or pre-order to take home some  or Sally Jean Chocolates for your special event.
  • Museum Overnights:  Groups of 50 or more will enjoy exclusive use of the museum -OR- join us for one of our Family overnight experiences for a full night of activities, food, fun and a sci-tacular experience!!
  • Senior programs:  Join us for a variety of social fun get-togethers with a learning experience.
  • Birthday Parties: A turn-key exciting package of pizza, cake, a science theme you choose, your own party room and then run of the museum!
  • Special events every month! Check in frequently for exciting “must not miss”, sell-out events happening at the museum every month.
